App Lock#
App lock is a privacy barrier for casual access to Track & Graph when someone already has your unlocked device.
It can require your Track & Graph password when the app is opened after being in the background, after the app process is killed, or after the device is locked. If your device supports strong biometric authentication, you can also enable biometric unlock.
App lock does not encrypt your data. In particular, it does not:
- Encrypt your database, backups, or Android cloud backup.
- Prevent access to widgets.
- Hide reminder notifications.
- Prevent Track & Graph from being uninstalled.
There is no password recovery mechanism. If you forget your app lock password and cannot unlock with biometrics, the only recovery route is to uninstall Track & Graph, reinstall it, and restore your data from a backup.
Use app lock when you want to reduce casual snooping in the app UI. Continue to protect your device account, device lock screen, cloud account, and backups as the real security boundary for your data.
